Man convicted of murder in shooting of 22-year-old in Colorado Springs
One of three people arrested for the killing of a 22-year-old man last May in Colorado Springs has been found guilty of second-degree murder.
According to the El Paso County Coroner’s Office, Dionte Harris was found dead at the Regal Apartments on S. Academy Blvd on May 3, 2018.
Three people — 23-year-old Cortez Lee-Read, 24-year-old Lakela Brasfield, and 22-year-old Austin Wayne Boyd — were arrested in Pueblo and Colorado Springs.
Thursday, the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office announced that Boyd was found guilty of second-degree murder. He faces between 16 and 48 years in prison; his sentencing hearing is currently set for Nov. 15.

Colorado Springs Police are investigating a deadly shooting at an apartment complex.
The shooting happened just after 9:00 p.m. Thursday, at the 100 block of S. Academy Blvd. at the Regal Apartments. When officers arrived, they found a man dead inside an apartment.
CSPD’s Violent Crimes division has taken over the investigation. Detectives are interviewing witnesses to get a better idea what happened.
KRDO talked to residents in the area and they said they didn’t hear anything, but saw a heavy police presence around 4:00 a.m.
