ONLY ON: Family of missing woman talks to KRDO about her tragic death
The family of the Colorado Springs mother who was reported missing on Saturday and found dead Tuesday from a car crash is still coping with the loss of their loved one.
“She was a good person,” said Jennifer Cleland’s brother Richard Masson through tears, “a really good person.”
Cleland was last seen Saturday. Police telling us that same day she served off the road at Circle Drive right before the Hancock Expressway exit and crashed into a tree in the embankment. No one saw her car until Tuesday.
That’s the day Masson and the rest of her family learned what happened to her after days of searching, “I’m glad we found her but it’s not how we wanted to find her,” Masson says.
Masson tells KRDO he drove that same road multiple times looking for her and never once saw her car.
Now after learning what happened, he prays her death wasn’t painful, “We just hope she passed away quickly and didn’t suffer.”
Cleland’s son Julian thankful nothing worse happened to his mother.
“There is just some really messed up people in this world that do really messed up things and I’m just glad that it wasn’t that she was taken,” Julian says.
But now they have more questions than answers. How did Cleland drive off the road and crash? Masson saying his sister was a great driver and there were no signs at the scene that showed she tried to brake or stop the car.
Until those questions are answered, the family says they can finally start healing now that they know what happened.
The family has started a GoFundMe account. You can find it by clicking here.
