Tonight: Staying partly cloudy and dry across SE Colorado. Light winds at 5-10mph with a low temperature of 59 in Colorado Springs.

Monday: The current heatwave is going to continue for the start of the week. Colorado Springs will hit close to 94 degrees which would tie the daily high temperature record. Pueblo should get to 101, which would break the current record. Although over 10 degrees above average for mid-August, critical fire weather isn’t in the forecast as we’re missing one of the main ingredients, wind. Isolated showers are possible for the far eastern plains, but the I-25 corridor will remain dry.

Extended: Tuesday afternoon isolated showers will be possible for El Paso and Pueblo Counties, but overall severity of the storms look low at the moment. Temperatures staying in the 90’s Tuesday. It’s Wednesday when a cold front will cross through Colorado, ramping up precipitation chances and cooling temperatures down to average. Wednesday will be the day to be on the lookout for a few severe thunderstorms.
