Strong to severe storms likely over the Eastern Plains – 8/16/19

TODAY: Sunny skies are in the forecast for the morning around southern Colorado before our weather takes a turn during the afternoon. Clouds will increase through lunchtime and storms should start to pop up between 2 and 3pm. They move over the eastern plains between 4 and 6pm tonight and will likely become strong to severe. Large hail and high winds will be the most concerning threats, with secondary threats of locally heavy rain and an isolated tornado. Highs will be in the 80s and 90s again today.

TONIGHT: Showers and storms wrap up by 9pm and we will see clearing through the overnight. Lows cool back to the 50s and 60s.

EXTENDED: The rest of the weekend looks hot and mainly dry. Isolated showers and storms are possible over higher terrain areas tomorrow, but sunshine will be in abundance otherwise. That dry, warm weather stays with us through Monday.
