08/13/19 Forecast Discussion

Tonight: Scattered showers and possible in El Paso County this evening with gradual clearing after 8pm. The storms across I-25 will be of low severity with the biggest concerns being strong wind gusts and heavy rain. The far eastern plains will be the spot to look out for more severe thunderstorms, as of 4:40pm most of the severe tornadic thunderstorms have crossed over into Kansas. Although there is still a chance for a few thunderstorms overnight from Burlington down through Springfield.

Wednesday: Plenty of sunshine to start off the morning on the I-25 corridor helping temperatures warm up into the mid-80’s for Colorado Springs and 90’s for HWY 50. Turning partly cloudy by early afternoon with scattered showers and thunderstorms again likely. The overall coverage of the thunderstorms will be low, but for those that do find themselves in a storm, expect hail chances, strong winds, and heavy rain.

Extended: Entering into a slight warming trend to finish the work week as temperatures approach 10 degrees above average by Friday. In addition to the warming, rain chances will decrease into our weekend forecast as most folks will stay dry Friday through Sunday.
