Perseids meteor shower to start its peak August 12

Colorado will have an excellent view of the annual Perseids meteor shower, which will reach its peak late Monday night and early Tuesday.

Your greatest chance of seeing the most “shooting stars” — or meteors — is expected to occur during the early morning hours of August 11, 12 and 13. Unfortunately, these dates coincide with a bright moon that may outshine the Perseids, reports CNN.

Once evening falls, expect to see a meteor streaking across the sky every few minutes. Hopefully, clear skies will allow for the best viewing.

NASA officials say that the best times for viewing are after anytime after 10 p.m. and before the sky begins to lighten.
