Hickenlooper and Bennet talk gun control in Iowa

Former Colorado Governor, John Hickenlooper, and Senator Michael Bennet took a trip to Iowa on the 2020 presidential campaign trail this weekend.

The two visited the Iowa State Fair along with other democratic hopefuls, and spoke at a gun control forum. Hickenlooper bashed President Trump yesterday for his response to the recent mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio that killed more than 30 people: “Our inactivity in Washington to address this is one of the greatest frustrations I’ve ever had.” Saying just one day earlier, “An immoral, unethical, dangerous president continues to divide us even as families are mourning.”

Bennet agreed. When speaking about the president, he said in part, “He got that job by dividing on America from another America, and he is trying to keep that power by dividing America from itself.”

Even with strong showings at the last debate, neither Hickenlooper nor Bennet have met the qualifications for the third democratic debate next month. Currently, nine other democrats have qualified.
