Final round of storms before a hot weekend

Today: The final round of thunderstorms is rolling through this evening. Severe thunderstorms are popping up over the eastern plains from 6-8 p.m. Pueblo County is expecting to get some fast-moving storms and showers around 7 p.m. Colorado Springs is mainly expecting showers over the evening. However, the southern areas in El Paso County could get a passing thunderstorm.

The most significant storms tonight are expected to be a line of thunderstorms stretching from Kit Carson County down to Otero County. As the storms make their way to the border of Colorado, ping pong-sized hail is possible with 60 mph winds.

Weekend: Besides a small and light shower at 5 a.m. for Colorado Springs, there is no moisture over the weekend. Clouds will be at a minimum. Winds pick up with 20-30 mph gusts all across southern Colorado, making the best time to get outside the morning before the temperatures and winds peak in the afternoon.
