Flash flood destroys multiple roads in El Paso County

Colorado is in the heart of monsoon season, which typically runs from July through September. That means plenty of rain.

Just last Friday night, a severe thunderstorm hit the Midway Ranch neighborhood about 15 miles south of Colorado Springs. The storm dropped approximately four and a half inches of rain, turning dried up riverbeds into raging torrents.

Carl Tatum, Hanover Fire Department Chief commented on the damage, saying, “We lost a portion of Young Hollow Road and Indian Village Road, and Armadillo Heights is impassable.”

The Hanover Fire Department is still surveying the damage and has no estimation on when the road repairs will take place.
