Colorado firefighting aircraft sent to help combat Oregon wildfires

The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control is sending one of its two Multi-Mission Aircrafts to help fight wildfires in Oregon.

The second MMA will remain in Colorado and continue to provide support for wildfires at home.

Combating wildfires requires interagency cooperation and support from the nation’s broad network of local, state, and federal authorities, said the CDFPC in a press release.

“When Colorado needs help fighting wildfires in our state, we rely on other states to send their resources,” said DFPC Director Mike Morgan. “Other states have answered Colorado’s call for help in past years, and we are honored to provide assistance back to our partners during this time.”

The aircraft departed from the Centennial airport Sunday morning. Its crew includes two mission sensor operators, a pilot, and a mechanic.
