08/10/19 Forecast Discussion

Tonight: Scattered showers and thunderstorms likely across I-25 and HWY 50. The biggest concerns will be strong wind gusts, lightning, and small hail. SE Colorado will see two waves of storms, the first will impact valley locations from now till about 7pm. Then brief clearing, with evening rain showers possible after 9pm. Gradually turning partly cloudy overnight with a low temperature of 60 degrees in Colorado Springs.

Sunday: Increasing cloud coverage through the day with high temperatures in the mid 80’s in El Paso County. HWY 50 will reach the mid-90’s. By early afternoon, mountain showers and thunderstorms will develop and cross over into valley locations after 3pm. There is the potential for a few of the thunderstorms to be severe in northern El Paso County and across I-70.

Extended: Isolated showers and thunderstorms for the week ahead, with a good majority of SE Colorado staying relatively dry. Higher elevations will be favored for afternoon showers.
