CSPD appears set to release body cam video in police shooting

The City of Colorado Springs and the Colorado Springs Police Department released a statement Friday saying they anticipate releasing body camera footage in the De’Von Bailey case.

CSPD says they anticipate releasing the footage pending the conclusion of the investigation in the case next week.

The footage, taken from two responding officers, captures the moments leading up to and immediately following the shooting.

CSPD will only release the footage at a time when it will not jeopardize or compromise the investigation or judicial process.

This all comes after a neighbor’s surveillance video was released showing the tail end of the shooting.

Mayor John Suthers also encouraged CSPD to release more footage in the wake of the fatal shooting.

Suthers spoke briefly to media Wednesday in response to the shooting of Bailey, which sparked a protest in downtown Colorado Springs on Monday.

The shooting happened Saturday night on Preuss Road, near the 2400 Block of East Fountain Blvd.
