Severe thunderstorms move across Southern Colorado today – 8/8/19

TODAY: Strong to severe storms are very likely across Southern Colorado this afternoon. These develop between noon and 3PM and will track south and east through the evening tonight. Hail, wind and flash flooding are the biggest threats today. A brief tornado is also possible as storms track over the Palmer Divide and out over the Eastern Plains.

A tornado warning was issued for northern El Paso County, near Black Forest and Falcon, until 5 p.m. Storms were moving east across the area.

The entire I-25 Corridor between Monument and Trinidad is under a Flash Flood Watch until 9PM tonight, so be aware of quick-changing water levels and debris slides. Highs today will be in the low to upper 80s.

TONIGHT: Storms clear the eastern plains by midnight tonight and we are left with slow clearing and lows in the 50s and 60s.

EXTENDED: Friday looks to bring more chances for strong storms and we will see continued scattered storms through the weekend. It looks like we wont get a break again until Monday of next week.
