Police continue to investigate drive by shooting in southeast Colorado Springs

We are learning more about the shooting of a woman inside a home in the 1400 block of Querida Drive Monday night.

As of Thursday, police are continuing to look for a suspect in the shooting.

Lt. Jim Sokolik with Colorado Springs Police said, “We don’t currently have any named suspects, we don’t currently have any information available to the public.”

Upon arrival to this residence, officers made contact with a female inside the home who sustained a gunshot wound to the head.

“Obviously she had a bullet wound, so she was transported to the hospital and received medical attention,” said Lt. Sokolik.

Luckily she survived. After investigating the home, police discovered that the shots had been fired into the residence from outside of the home.

Lt. Sokolik said, “We don’t know exactly why, or what occurred but all indications are that that house was the intended target. So this isn’t a random incident and the house was the intended target of those shots.”

As for the suspect, the police currently have no leads. Sokolik said they will take any help they can get.

“Anybody who might have any information, who saw something or heard something, since this occurred, has any information we’d like to speak with them. We’d ask them to call the Colorado Springs Police Department,” Sokolik said.

Also during the investigation, an individual from inside the home was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant which was unrelated to this incident.
