CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Non-profit in Colorado Springs burglarized, suspect’s blood found at scene

A non-profit in Colorado Springs was burglarized early Monday and security cameras inside recorded it all.

Victory Service Dogs trains canines for disabled veterans to help them live an easier life. Just after midnight on Monday, a man threw a rock through their office window and entered the premises.

Kenny Morrow, the non-profit’s vice president and a veteran himself, says he’s appalled that someone would do this. “It is just a real disservice toward our mission,” Morrow says. “It’s a disservice toward the disabled veterans.”

Security footage shows a man wearing dark clothing and a bandana entering through one of the windows where they train the dogs. He searches the entire office for about 30 minutes and left through the front door. The footage shows him stealing a laptop, shirts, hats, bottled water, and even cookies.

Workers found doors kicked in and cabinets left opened when they arrived on Monday.

Morrow says the stolen items were not that expensive but fixing the two broken windows will cost thousands of dollars.

The suspect left plenty of evidence for police. He left fingerprints on the light switches and trailed blood through the office from cutting himself on the window glass.

“If he has a record, they are going to know exactly who it is,” Morrow says. He hopes the suspect will be caught soon and justice for his non-profit will follow.
