Baby giraffe at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo earns her name

Per the zoo’s tradition, baby animals born under their care remain nameless until 30 days after birth. The baby giraffe born July 6 to mom Msitu has passed that milestone.

Her name is Viv, meaning “life” or “lively”, which zoo officials say suit her personality according to city’s website.

Both 10-year-old Msitu and 1-month-old Viv continue to do well. Viv is the 16th reticulated giraffe to join the zoo’s herd.
