Vail Resorts acquires 17 new ski areas from Peak Resorts
Vail Resorts’s insatiable appetite strikes again.
The corporation announced on Monday that they will add 17 new ski areas to the Epic Pass, after acquiring 100% of the remaining Peak Resorts properties in the Midwest and Northeast. The purchase price is approximately $264 million and $11 per share.
The new acquisitions are:
Mount Snow in Vermont Attitash Mountain Resort, Wildcat Mountain and Crotched Mountain in New Hampshire Hunter Mountain in New York Liberty Mountain Resort, Roundtop Mountain Resort, Whitetail Resort, Jack Frost and Big Boulder in Pennsylvania Alpine Valley, Boston Mills, Brandywine and Mad River Mountain in Ohio Hidden Valley and Snow Creek in Missouri Paoli Peaks in Indiana
You might notice that none of these resorts are in the Rocky Mountains or on the West Coast. That’s because Vail intends for them to attract customers who live near metropolitan hubs like New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., Cleveland, Columbus, Philadelphia, Kansas City, Louisville, and St. Louis.
The transaction is expected to close this fall. When it does, unlimited access to the 17 new Peak Resorts ski areas will be available for holders of the 2019-20 Epic Pass, Epic Local Pass, and Military Epic Pass.
