Cool spring conditions expected to extend Palisade peach season

The cool springtime conditions Colorado experienced this year has pushed the schedule back for some summertime favorites.

KUSA reports, peaches, cherries and other produce in Palisade got off to a later start this year. The mountain town is located about 230-miles west of Denver and is known for its peaches.

Peach stands have started to show up around the state and could last longer compared to years past.

The winter-like weather we saw this past spring may have thrown off picking schedules, but growers in the region say it’s something they come to expect.

Growers predict the peak of the harvest will happen as the Palisade Peach Festival is underway. The festival runs from Aug. 15-18 and features a parade, ice cream social, a peach eating contest, car show and more.
