Restrictions lifted on Arkansas River in Pueblo County

It’s good news for tubers who have been wanting to float through the city of Pueblo, the restrictions on the Arkansas River have been lifted in Pueblo County.

The county released a statement with Colorado Parks and Wildlife announcing that the restrictions had been lifted from the spillway of the Pueblo Dam to the Pueblo County/Otero County line.

Those restrictions were put in place in mid-June due to high water levels and fast water flow.

CPW and the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office says the water flow in that area has dropped below 3,000 cubic feet per second, and the public may now resume “normal recreational activities.”

If you get in the water, be careful and always wear a personal flotation device.

Want to tube through the city? Start at the spillway north of City Park and float along until you get near the confluence north of Santa Fe Drive, then hop out.
