Victim identified after fatal shooting at Colorado Springs apartment complex

Update: Police have identified the shooting victim as 27-year-old Alex Franklin of Colorado Springs.

There is still no suspect in custody following the Thursday morning shooting at the Ridgeview Place apartment complex.

Police responded to a fatal shooting at the Ridgeview Place apartment complex (MAP) just after 6 a.m. Thursday.

Authorities tell KRDO that the adult male victim was found in the parking lot of the apartment complex. The man was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The case is being investigated as a homicide. The El Paso County Coroner will conduct an examination to make the final determination of the cause and manner of death.

The suspect is not in custody at this time. Authorities do say there is not an active threat to the community.

Officers will be investigating the scene for most Thursday and possibly into Friday.
