Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo is finally here

From mutton bustin’ to shootouts to mechanical bull riding, day 1 of the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo didn’t disappoint.

One big attraction was the Fanzone, a family-friendly area where anyone can live their cowboy dreams. It’s just one of the many things that makes this rodeo one-of-a-kind.

The event is supported by over 300 volunteers. Their time and work make it possible for the rodeo to raise funds for the men and women who keep us all safe.

“All of our proceeds go to our military families’ needs and programs,” said Grant Adkisson, President of Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo. “We passed 5 million dollars in 2017, and last year wrote 189,000 dollars worth of checks into local military needs.”

Good old country hospitality is a hallmark of the event. At one point, the crowd was asked to look to their left, look to their right, and shake the hand of the folks sitting on either side. It doesn’t get anymore absolutely Colorado than that.

The rodeo will continue through Saturday night.
