Police identify motorcyclist killed after crash in NE Colorado Springs

The 28-year-old man who was killed in a crash while riding his motorcycle last Tuesday in northeast Colorado Springs has been identified.

According to Colorado Springs police, Matthew Headley was driving south on Tutt Boulevard at a “high rate of speed” when he ran off the right side of the road near Alderney Way and crashed.

Police say Headley wasn’t wearing a helmet and died at the scene of the crash.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Police say alcohol and speed are believed to be factors.

Headley’s death is the 22nd traffic fatality this year.

A motorcyclist is dead following a crash in Colorado Springs Tuesday night.

The Colorado Springs Police Department was called to the area near Alderney Way and Tutt Blvd., around 9 p.m. When officers arrived they found the man dead at the scene.

So far investigators have determined that the man was riding his motorcycle on Tutt Blvd. and failed to make the curve in the road. We’re told he struck a curb and was thrown from the motorcycle. The victim’s identity has not been released.

The Major Crash Team has taken over the investigation. At this time it’s unknown if speed or impairment are factors in this crash.

This is the 22nd traffic-related death in Colorado Springs this year. At this time in 2018 there were 23 fatalities.
