4th Street anticipated to reopen Saturday after main break

Repairs for 4th Street after Saturday’s water main break are now underway, reported Pueblo Water officials.

In addition to initial pavement damage caused by the water pressure burst, large excavations were necessary to repair the damaged main and a natural gas line that was supplying a nearby business.

Officials anticipate completing the gas line repair by late Monday, asphalt excavation by Wednesday, and repaving through Thursday and Friday. If the schedule proceeds as planned, the 300 block of 4th Street between Grande Avenue and Court Street will reopen by Saturday.

At about 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 6th, a large water main break occurred on West 4th Street between Grand Avenue and Court Street in downtown Pueblo, closing the road to drivers. The cause of the break remains unknown, although old infrastructure is not a likely culprit.
