07/07/19 Forecast Discussion

Today: Slightly warmer compared to yesterday, temperatures back to average for Eastern Colorado. Hitting 82 degrees for Colorado Springs with locations across highway 50 closer to 90 degrees. Partly cloudy through much of the day with a light afternoon breeze out of the SE at 10-15 mph with the occasional gust to 20. Afternoon showers will start over the higher mountainous areas then cross I-25 by mid-afternoon. One of the concerns will be the burn scars in the Sangre’s, keep the flash flooding concerns in mind today. Overall severity of the thunderstorms for El Paso/Pueblo Counties will be low today, as the biggest threat will be heavy rain and lightning. Rain chances diminish overnight with a low temperature of 56 degrees.

Extended: Entering into a warming trend through mid-week, back to the high 80’s and 90’s. Daily scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms possible, but overall a relatively dry pattern this week. Any showers that do develop will be short-lived. Tuesday being the exception, almost no rain chances for Central/Eastern Colorado.
