Video shows deputies pull newborn baby from plastic bag

A newborn girl was found in a plastic bag in the woods earlier this month in Georgia, and the sheriff’s office that found the baby shared video of the harrowing discovery.

Baby India was discovered on June 6, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, and investigators are “aggressively” following leads to find out how she ended up in the woods.

A body camera video posted to Facebook Tuesday shows a deputy tearing open a plastic bag while the baby cries inside. The baby still has her umbilical cord attached as the responders try to comfort her and wrap her in a blanket.

The sheriff’s office said Tuesday that Baby India is “thriving” and is in protective care. They’re still looking to find the baby’s mother.
