Pikes Peak Hill Climb race week schedule

The 97th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb isn’t just about the race day — events are taking place across Colorado Springs throughout the week, and many are open to the public.

Race day itself is Sunday, and the first flag is at 7:30 a.m. The big day for spectators to party is Friday, when the Hill Climb Fan Fest will take over downtown Colorado Springs.

Here’s a list of events this week:

Monday (Technical Inspection)

9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Technical Inspection (Broadmoor World Arena) 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Race Day ticket sales (Hotel Elegant) 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. Merchandise Sales (Hotel Elegant) 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Merchandise and Ticket Sales (Broadmoor World Arena)

Tuesday (Practice & Qualifying)

4 a.m. – 5 a.m. Gateway open to spectators with tickets (Purchase online) 4:45 a.m. PPIHC Start Line closes to uphill traffic 5:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Practice/Qualifying (Pikes Peak) 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Merchandise and Race Day Ticket Sales (Hotel Elegant)

Wednesday (Practice & Qualifying)

4 a.m. – 5 a.m. Gateway open to spectators with tickets 4:45 a.m. PPIHC Start Line closes to uphill traffic 5:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Practice/Qualifying (Pikes Peak) 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Merchandise and Race Day Ticket Sales (Hotel Elegant)

Thursday (Practice & Qualifying)

4 a.m. – 5 a.m. Gateway open to spectators with tickets 4:45 a.m. PPIHC Start Line closes to uphill traffic 5:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Practice/Qualifying (Pikes Peak) 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Merchandise and Race Day Ticket Sales (Hotel Elegant)

Friday (Sanctioned Practice Day/Test and Tune, Fan Fest)

4 a.m. – 5 a.m. Gateway open to spectators with tickets 4:45 a.m. PPIHC Start Line closes to uphill traffic 5:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Sanctioned Practice (Pikes Peak) 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Race Day Ticket Sales (Hotel Elegant) 5 p.m. Final Competitor List/Run Order announced 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. Fan Fest, free and open to the public (Downtown Colorado Springs)

Saturday (Set-up Day)

11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Race Day Ticket Sales (Hotel Elegant) 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Overnight camping opens on Pikes Peak 6 p.m. Gateway closes and uphill traffic stops

Sunday (Race Day)

2:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Gateway opens to the public; Spectators must use uphill lane 2:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. Will Call ticket pickup at the Gateway (No ticket sales at the Gateway) 6 a.m. – End No spectator vehicles allowed above the start line at this point 7:30 a.m. Green Flag is dropped (Race begins) 12 p.m. Gateway closed to uphill traffic, no spectators allowed through the Gateway at this point.
