Fatal car accident in Mineral County leaves 1 woman dead

A car rolled down an embankment early Monday morning in Mineral County, leaving one woman dead.

Rachel Bennett, 27, was driving northbound on Highway 149 at approximately 1:17 a.m. when her vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, Colorado State Patrol reports. Her truck struck an embankment, rolling one and a half times up the hillside, where it landed on its roof and slid back down the hill before turning over halfway.

Bennett was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected during the crash. CSP is considering alcohol, speed, and drugs as factors, although the crash is still under investigation.
