06/22/19 Forecast Discussion

Tonight: As of 7:45pm a line of strong thunderstorms from I-70 all the way to Las Animas County is moving ENE at about 20-30mph. The most severe storms are in Southern Bent and Eastern Las Animas Counties, with the potential to produce ping pong ball sized hail, 60mph wind gusts, lightning, and heavy rain. Currently, Severe Thunderstorm Warnings are in effect for these areas. With Severe Thunderstorm Watches in effect for most of SE Colorado till 1am. Colorado Springs will stay mostly dry for the remainder of the evening with temperatures reaching into the low 40’s.

Sunday: Partly cloudy skies to start off the morning with light winds at 5-10mph. Temperatures approximately 15-20 degrees below average for late June, as we’ll only hit 62 degrees. Isolated early afternoon showers possible, but the vast majority of SE Colorado will stay dry.

Extended: Temperatures warming drastically to start the week, back to the 70’s and 80’s with isolated afternoon rain chances Monday and Tuesday. But similar to Sunday, the coverage of the storms will be minimal and short-lived. f you do see an afternoon shower/thunderstorm, expect to see some sunshine when it passes.
