Man injures police officer after being arrested at Colorado Springs Taco Bell

A man was arrested early Monday morning after being suspected of drunk driving, resisting arrest and assaulting a peace officer.

Just before 1:30 a.m. officers responded to the Taco Bell at Source Center Pt. in response to a possible DUI in progress.

Officers contacted and detained Joshua Cartier, who is suspected of driving under the influence.

Cartier was transported to the hospital for a blood test. Upon arrival to Memorial Hospital North, Cartier became uncooperative and was removed from the police cruiser after being OC sprayed.

During the struggle, Cartier grabbed an officer’s wrist with significant pressure causing pain and swelling.

Police say Cartier was arrested for the additional charges of second-degree assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail.
