Bear crosses path of runners at Leadville Trail Marathon

A pack of runners at the Leadville Trail Marathon had a bit of motivation to run even faster when a bear made an appearance and ran across the path.

Quentin Genke caught pictures of the bear and shared them on Facebook. He said the black bear popped out at around the 12.5-mile mark. The race took place last Thursday.

The bear quickly crossed over the path and disappeared into the woods on the other side.

“First time I ever had a black bear come out of the woods and run between runners,” Genke said on Facebook.
