Fire possibly started by lightning southeast of Pueblo

Firefighters in Pueblo County were called to a fire south of Avondale that may have been started by a lightning strike.

The call went out at about 3 p.m. Friday for an area at 44th Lane and Fields Street. That’s near Huerfano Lake. (MAP)

According to firefighters on emergency dispatch channels, flames and heavy smoke were visible in the area. It’s not clear how large the fire is, but we have a crew on the way to learn more information.

No injuries have been reported.
