Colorado Springs police: Man threatened to kill neighbor with sword

A 39-year-old man from Colorado Springs is in custody after allegedly threatening to kill his neighbor with a sword and then barricading himself in his apartment for a two-hour standoff with police.

Police say officers were called to 2800 Tumblewood Grove around 5 p.m. Wednesday when a victim reported being threatened by Alfredo Macedo. According to a police report, Macedo had a sword and threatened to kill his neighbor.

Officers searched the residence and found multiple swords inside, but they didn’t find Macedo. An arrest warrant for felony menacing was issued.

Early Thursday morning, officers got information that Macedo was back at the residence on Tumblewood Grove. Police found him there and tried to get him to surrender peacefully, but he refused. SWAT and K-9 officers were called with a search warrant, and police made verbal contact with Macedo.

At one point, Macedo tried to escape out of the window but then barricaded himself inside, according to the police report. After about two hours, he was taken into custody.

Macedo was arrested for the felony menacing charge. It’s not clear if he faces additional charges for the standoff.
