Armed and dangerous suspect sought in east Colorado Springs shooting

The Colorado Springs Police Department is looking for a 31-year-old man accused of murder in a fatal shooting that happened in late May at an eastside apartment complex.

The shooting happened on May 30 in the 200 block of N. Murray Blvd. Police say 46-year-old James Quilter was found dead outside the apartment complex with a gunshot wound.

Wednesday, CSPD said an arrest warrant was obtained for Christopher Freeman. Freeman is wanted for second-degree murder.

Freeman is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, police say you should not approach him and to call law enforcement. If you have any information regarding the suspect, you can call (719)444-7000.

CSPD says this is the seventh homicide this year in Colorado Springs. At this time last year, police say the city had 14 homicides.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting.

Officers were called to the 200 block of N. Murray Blvd. around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, for a reported shooting. When they arrived they found a man dead outside of an apartment complex.

The CSPD Violent Crimes unit has taken over this investigation. At this time officers have not released the name of the victim, or any information on a suspect. If you have any information, you’re urged to call Crime Stoppers at 719-634-STOP.
