Police arrest Pueblo woman accused of shooting juvenile
A 23-year-old woman is in custody after allegedly shooting a girl in the leg and then leading a standoff with police the next day.
Pueblo police say the shooting happened Saturday at an Econolodge on N. Elizabeth Street. (MAP) A caller told police that a juvenile female was shot by another woman who then left the scene, according to a news release from the Pueblo Police Department.
The victim was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to her leg, police said.
Police identified the suspect as Leslie Ramirez and found her at a house off Joplin Ave. on Sunday.
Officers went to the house, surrounded the home and told everyone to leave. Three people exited the house and told police Ramirez was still inside, PPD said.
Ramirez wouldn’t respond, so SWAT officers were called. The SWAT team entered the house and took her into custody.
Ramirez was booked into jail for attempted first-degree murder.
