Man dragged to death trying to stop carjacking in Pueblo, suspect on the loose

Pueblo police say a man was dragged by a vehicle while trying to stop a thief Monday morning, and he later died from his injuries.

According to Pueblo police, a Jeep Cherokee was left running in the 900 block of E. 5th Street when a suspect tried to steal it.

The owner tried to stop the thief, but was dragged before falling off in the 600 block of Joplin Ave. The owner was taken to the hospital, where he died.

The suspect is described as a white male wearing a traffic control vest and a blue hat with a red brim.

A family member said the victim was 22 years old and was getting ready for work when the carjacking happened.

Police say the vehicle was later found near 1200 Socorro Place.
