New commandant of cadets at Air Force Academy taking over Friday
The Air Force Academy announced that Brig. Gen. Michele Edmondson will assume command of the Air Force Academy cadet wing this Friday.
Edmondson will lead the 4,000-member Cadet Wing and more than 200 Air Force and civilian personnel, according to the Academy. She is currently the Director of Space Policy with the National Security Council at the White House. She previously commanded the 81st Training Wing at Keesler AFB in Mississippi.
Brig. Gen. Kristin Goodwin was removed as commandant of the Cadet Wing in late April.
In a statement to KRDO from the Air Force Academy last month, Goodwin was removed as Commandant of Cadets effective immediately as a result of an ongoing investigation. The Academy did not provide any details pertaining to the nature of the investigation.
Edmondson was promoted to brigadier general in August, and she holds masters degrees in strategic studies, national security affairs and organizational management; she has a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering.
