Riley Cornelio – Pine Creek flame throwing pitcher

Riley Cornelio loves to cross the white line to pitch, “I think that’s the best feeling in my life. I think that’s what I live for. It gets me giddy just to think about it,” says Cornelio. Hitters on the other hand don’t get to giddy to face him, “I notice it on the on deck circle. I’ll look at kids over there and there kind of like okay,” says Pine Creek catcher Braden Dedrick, “Especially late in games. You know a lot times pitchers just kind of grind down a little bit. But Riley has the unique ability to even in the late innings really come with someting hard,” added Pine Creek head coach Glenn Millhauser. “I don’t want anybody to get too comfortable,” says Cornelio.

His opponents don’t get to too comfortable because Riley has been clocked throwing 95 miles per hour, “What’s that like coming out of your hand? It’s just I can feel it. When I get behind a baseball and throw it really well it just comes out well it really pops,” says Riley “How often is your hand hurting when he throws 95 miles per hour? Only the first pitch cuz then it goes numb,” says Dedrick.

The young man who makes hitters sweat has to make sure he is wearing a certain brand of deodorant on the day’s he pitches, “It’s degree. I don’t know what type of degree it is but that one has always worked,” says Cornelio.

He will attend TCU in the fall and possibly pursue a degree in finance but is finances may change if he is drafted in the high rounds of the major league baseball draft, “Definitely one day that’s a huge goal of mine. That would a really special opportunity,” says Cornelio.
