Man causes crash by driving wrong way on I-25 in Colorado Springs

A 30-year-old man is arrested following a head-on crash on I-25 just north of Uintah early Monday morning.

Police were called to service after reports that a man, later identified as David Bates, was traveling the wrong way on I-25.

Bates was traveling northbound in the southbound lane when he crashed into a large commercial vehicle. The drivers of both vehicles were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police report that alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. Bates has been arrested for DUI.

I-25 southbound was closed for a few hours Monday morning but has since reopened.
