Motorcyclist dies after hitting an elk on Hwy 50 west of Pueblo
A 52-year-old motorcyclist is dead after hitting an elk and then getting struck by a pickup truck.
Colorado State Patrol reports that the man was thrown from his bike and then hit by a Ford F-150 early Thursday morning.
The rider was later identified as 52-year-old Nick Lucero of Pueblo West. Lucero was wearing a helmet but was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck driver was not injured in the crash.
Both directions of Hwy 50 was closed between Old Portland Rd. and CO 120 during the morning hours.
