CPW, deputies capture black bear in Pueblo West

Deputies with the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers captured a black bear Thursday morning.

The bear was spotted in Pueblo West near schools and homes. Deputies successfully herded the bear away from the area before safely capturing it.

Division of Wildlife, Pueblo West Fire and Colorado State Parks assisted in tracking and capturing the bear. CPW officers Travis Sauder and Gretchen Holschuh responded to the calls of a bear near Pueblo West High School, tracked it down and tranquilized it.

Authorities say the bear is fine and will be relocated. If you see a bear, you should never approach it and call 9-1-1.
