Police: Man tried to steal car at Pueblo Dairy Queen twice in 1 night

Pueblo police say a man went to rob a Dairy Queen Monday night, tried to steal a car, and then returned later to (unsuccessfully) try and steal a car again.

Officers were called to the Dairy Queen on Oakshire Lane for an armed robbery in progress at about 9 p.m. The robber left the business with cash and tried to carjack a woman in the drive-thru, but he ended up running away on foot, according to a news release from the Pueblo Police Department.

Police looked in the area but couldn’t find him. Then at about 10:50 p.m., another robbery call was made from the same Dairy Queen. This time, PPD says, the suspect tried to steal an employee’s vehicle before running away again.

Not to be eluded again, the officers set up a perimeter and used night vision equipment to find Levi John Roberts “hiding in the prairie.”

Roberts was arrested and is charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of attempted robbery, and felony menacing.
