60-year-old man dies in Colorado Springs crash

Colorado Springs Police say one person has died in a motorcycle vs. car crash at Marksheffel just north of Drennan Saturday afternoon.

Mark Davis, 60, was riding his motorcycle southbound on Marksheffel passing vehicles on a double yellow line when he was struck by an SUV.

Police say Davis was traveling at a high rate of speed and was in the oncoming lane of traffic when he was hit.

Davis died on the scene and the driver of SUV was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police say the driver of the SUV was wearing a seatbelt and Davis was wearing a helmet.

It is believed that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

This is the 14th traffic fatality of 2019 in Colorado Springs. At this time last year, there were also 14 traffic fatalities in the city.
