Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region gets $100,000 grant from PetSmart

Just after the announcement that the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region would be temporarily running operations in Pueblo, the organization got some good news in the form of a $100,000 grant.

HSPPR says it was awarded the grant from PetSmart Charities, and it’ll “directly help save more lives.”

Specifically, the shelter group says the funds will go toward veterinary medical treatment programs and rehabilitative care. Those programs pay for issues like emergency surgeries and trauma. The group says it saved more than 21,000 lives last year.

PetSmart gives customers the opportunity to donate to the charity using the PIN pads at checkout registers, and nearly $400 million has been granted to local programs since 1994.
