Suspect in custody after standoff near Central High School

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office says a barricaded suspect is in custody after a long standoff near Central High School.

The sheriff’s office identified 30-year-old Jesse Murphy as the suspect who barricaded himself inside with a woman who was reportedly being held against her will. The woman wasn’t injured.

Murphy is on parole and was identified as a suspect in a stabbing of a 50-year-old woman at King Ridge Ave.

There’s a large police presence due to a standoff near Central High School in Pueblo.

This is happening at an apartment complex on the 500 block of Broadway. We’re told this all began when the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office was trying to arrest a suspect earlier this morning.

The Sheriff’s Office SWAT team is currently on the scene, assisting with the standoff. Right now Central High School is on a secured perimeter. People are being asked to stay away from the area.

At this time it’s unknown if the suspect has any weapons, or for what reason sheriff’s deputies were trying to arrest him.
