Marty’s Sunday Morning Forecast – Happy Easter! – 4/21/19
Today: A cold front will move from north to south over Colorado bringing wind, cooler air and increasing clouds to the area during the day. The air will warm into the 50s and 60s around the Pikes Peak Region with 70s to near 80 along and south of the Arkansas River prior to the cooler air arriving. During the afternoon the air will cool noticeably and scattered showers will develop over the Pikes Peak Region. It’s possible there may even be a little thunder with any stronger cells that may develop. These showers will drift southeast through the evening with the best coverage of showers likely along and north of the Arkansas River.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers most likely this evening followed by some areas of low cloud cover and possibly some pockets of drizzle and/or fog late. Over the higher terrain some flurries or a little light snow could also fall. The air will be noticeably cooler tonight with temperatures in the 30s and 40s by daybreak.
Extended: Monday and Tuesday will remain cool with high temperatures mainly in the 40s and 50s. We do expect scattered showers both days with the best coverage of showers likely along and south of the Arkansas River late Monday into early Tuesday. The higher terrain may receive a little wet snow at times with accumulations again confined to mainly cooler surfaces. Warmer air should begin working into the area on Wednesday and last through the end of the week but spotty showers and thunderstorms are possible during the afternoon hours on Thursday and Friday.
