Marty’s Saturday Morning Forecast – Warm Start To The Weekend – 4/20/19

Today: Partly cloudy, breezy at times and warmer with high temperatures in the 70s and 80s for the plains, mainly 60s for our local mountain communities. A few sprinkles are possible over the mountains late this afternoon but we don’t expect much precipitation today.

Tonight: Partly cloudy and breezy at times over and near the mountains with low temperatures in the 30s and 40s.

Easter Sunday: A cold front will move from north to south over Colorado bringing wind, cooler air and increasing clouds to the area during the day. The air will warm into the 50s and 60s around the Pikes Peak Region with 70s along and south of the Arkansas River prior to the cooler air arriving. During the afternoon the air will cool noticeably and showers will develop over the Pikes Peak Region. It’s possible there may even be a little thunder with any stronger cells that may develop. These showers will drift southeast through the evening with the best coverage of showers likely along and north of the Arkansas River. It is possible that a little wet snow will fall over the higher elevations in the Pikes Peak Region with some light accumulations of snow possible on mainly cooler surfaces through early Monday morning.

Extended: Monday and Tuesday will be cooler with high temperatures mainly in the 40s and 50s. We do expect scattered showers both days with the best coverage of showers likely late Monday into early Tuesday. The higher terrain may receive a little wet snow at times with accumulations again confined to mainly cooler surfaces. Warmer air should begin working into the area on Wednesday and last through the end of the week but spotty showers and thunderstorms are possible during the afternoon hours on Thursday and Friday.
