Owl recovers in Pueblo after being hit by a car

A Northern saw-whet owl is recovering after being hit by a car in Falcon.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife rescued the owl and discovered he had a serious head injury. The owl was taken to the Nature and Wildlife Discovery Center in Pueblo to recover.

Experts believe the owl was migrating back to the foothills when the crash happened.

Nature and Wildlife Discovery Center employee Diana Miller says the owl is alert, but not very active yet.

“We’re getting him to eat and drink and do things and he is on medication for the inflammation to the head so it’s just one of that wait-and-see kind of injuries,” Miller said.
