Woodland Park police end landfill search in Kelsey Berreth case

As of Wednesday afternoon, the Woodland Park Police Department is ending the search for Kelsey Berreth at the Midway Landfill.

Authorities report her remains have not been found, nor has any evidence relating to her death.

Law enforcement officials and other experts report that they have completed a highly detailed search in the area of interest. They had no success in the search.

Woodland Park Police Chief Miles De Young said the department has been working diligently at the Midway Landfill since Feb. 25.

“Based on a lack of items such as discarded mail, local newspapers and typical ranch debris that comes out of the transfer station in Divide, Colorado, I do not believe it is prudent to continue,” De Young said.

The investigation is still continuing. Woodland Park police say investigators continue to work on additional leads in this case and follow-up interviews.

“This is not the outcome that we hoped for, but we knew going into this search that there was a chance we would not locate Kelsey or evidence related to her disappearance,” De Young said.

Anyone with information on Berreth’s disappearance is asked to contact the Woodland Park Police Department through the dedicated email address: kelsey@city-woodlandpark.org.
