Colorado workers trapped in collapsed trench die

Emergency responders say two Colorado construction workers trapped in a trench collapse have died.

The Coloradoan reports authorities confirmed the deaths seven hours after the 15-foot-deep trench gave way.

Family members cried and one left in an ambulance after they learned of the deaths Tuesday night.

The men have not been publicly identified.

Windsor Severance Fire Rescue Chief Kris Kazian said crews had used a PVC pipe to communicate with one of the trapped workers for several hours.

Kazian said the cause of the collapse is unknown.
