Denver Zoo welcomes baby sloth
The Denver Zoo welcomed a two-toed baby sloth into the world Thursday, April 11.
The baby, whose name and sex are yet to be determined, has been deemed “very healthy.”
The baby was born to Charlotte, the zoo’s 23-year-old female sloth and her 28-year-old mate, Elliot. The mother and baby are being closely monitored in their Bird World habitat.
Guests are encouraged to visit Charlotte and the baby but should note that it may be hard to see the baby due to the mother’s tight embrace.
Keepers say the best time to visit is in the late afternoon when Charlotte is more likely to be moving around. Guests are asked to keep their voices low while the baby adjusts to life in its new world.
